Introducing a new project
The Edible Gardens of Vankleek Hill
Come join us and see how you can get involved in this exciting new activity to beautify our Town.
Would you like your business to have more exposure, without extra costs?
How about participating in a local event that requires you to simply be open during your normal business hours? We will send the people your way, for free, as long as you don’t mind having a bit of fun with them.
Your Vankleek Hill Business & Merchant Association is working on a plan to have a VKH area Scavenger Hunt with an emphasis on random acts of kindness.
Readers of The Review will have a month to complete a list of tasks around town.
Here is what we need you to do: come up with the task for your business.
It should be something an adult of any age/size could do, and it can be as intensive or hands-off as you like; taking a picture of your sign, solving a riddle in your shop, or volunteering time – but no more than 30 minutes.
You want people to discover your business, not just drive by. But keep in mind that they will have a list of about 25 tasks to complete so they will a limited amount of time to spend at each location.
We are looking at ways to improve our community by introducing locals to all the businesses and services that exist in our area. This is not about fundraising, or making a sale. This is meant to get people to your location and have a good time doing it. This is also not a race, so we do not expect you to put in extra hours.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, we are always open. VKH has a great collection of residents and independent business owners; we want them all to stay here so the BMA’s goal is to keep Vankleek Hill vital and contemporary.
Since we cannot include all businesses in our area, precedence will be given to our members. However, that will NOT be the main criteria – we are looking for a variety of task at businesses in all locations - not just those on Main Street.
We ask you to fill out the attached form with the 3 questions and either fax it or scan it back.
Please join our Commercial Scavenger Hunt

Porchfest for a third year in Vankleek Hill
Porchfest will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
Vankleek Hill has porches and we have talented people.
Put them together and you get Porchfest.
Think of a walking tour, combined with all kinds of entertainment! More than 25 performers, storytellers, dancers and even improv acts will share their talents during those five hours and here's the fun part: the entertainment takes place on the porches and verandahs of town residents.
On Porchfest day, a printed schedule/map will be available, which will list the performances, locations and times. The schedule will also be posted online closer to the event. Admission is free.
Here's how it works: Performers can register online and homeowners may offer their porches as venues for performers. We will pair up performers with venues within the historic heart of Vankleek Hill.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs and they should be prepared to move from location to location.
